It's hard to see, but this ring compressor is
tapered inside. The outside is cylindrical
and fits into the relieved ends of the
cylinder bore. Bottom edge rests on the edge
of the relief. The inside taper goes from
the top to about halfway down, and
straightens out when it gets to exactly the
diameter of the bore. You can see how it
